6 months

Wow, I cannot believe that Finn is 6 months old today, half a year gone in the blink of an eye. He has changed so much, some things seem gradual, some things seem to happen overnight!

I am so lucky that I get to stay home and share every moment with him. Last Saturday was actually the longest I had ever been away from him (4 hours) and I missed him so much! He was of course just fine and had a dandy time with his awesome daddy but I just love being with him so much that 4 hours seemed like a long time.

It is wonderful to see Finn and Kev together, they have so much fun and it makes me fall even more in love with Kev to see what a wonderful father he is. He even bought Finn his first car already, so spoiled!

There have been hard times in the last few months adjusting to a whole new life. Lack of sleep being the biggest adjustment but it is worth every lost hour of sleep and you know what, maybe it even made us closer since I get all those extra night hours with him too (-:

The hard stuff is so tiny though compared to what Finn has added to our lives. It really is amazing ( and scary! ) how much you can love another person. When he smiles my heart melts, when he cries half the time I do too, and when he talks I could listen for days. He is like a little bundle of sunshine and brightens each day.

It has also been amazing to see how much love and joy he has brought to our family and friends. It adds a whole other level of depth to our relationship with Finn to see our loved ones playing with him and showering him with affection, thank you all for being so amazing!!!

He is such a sweet, happy, joyful little baby and we are blessed to have him as our son. I cannot wait to see what the next 6 months bring, not too fast though!

Happy 6 month birthday little Finnabelle, Finnaboy, Finnababy, Finnster, Finkelstein, Fink, and our sweet little Finn. We love you soooooooooooo much!

March Madness

Finn practicing his moves for a future basketball career. He says that tasting the ball gives you special "skeeeeelz" on the court, his word, not mine.

We have been enjoying the basketball games but were sad when the buckeys lost on Friday. If you need a team to cheer for now Butler is awesome! They are only 2 miles from us so we have the Butler spirit. They are also an underdog, who doesn't love a sweet little underdog?

In other news Finn just started eating solids, video and pics are coming soon. So far his favs include sweet potato and avocado, smart boy.

Finn's First Starbucks

Finn and I met Kevin at Starbucks today for some afternoon daddy time. He is VERY interested I'm cups right now so we asked the barrista for a small Finn-sized version. As you will see in the video he liked his tiny empty cup very much, who needs toys when free cups are such a delight!

Finn in the kitchen

Finn helps me make dinner everyday. Sometimes in his sling, sometimes on my hip, and sometimes in his bumbo chair. He loves playing with various kitchen utensils. Playing is a loose term that mostly means chewing but he has added banging against the counter to his repertoire. His current favorites are the tbs measure and the whisk, both feel great on the gums!

Last week we made up a delish granola bar recipe. I have been asked by a few people to figure out the quantities and write them down so here it is, a recipe for Finn's fantastic granola treats!

Aka "Granola Bars with Peanut Butter, Pepitas, and Dark Chocolate"

2 ¾ cups oatmeal (not instant)
¾ cup pumpkin seeds/pepitas
¼ sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
2 dashes cardamom
½ tsp nutmeg
1/8 tsp sea salt
2 bars good dark chocolate- chopped

1/3 cup honey
1/3 cup peanut butter
1 tsp vanilla
1/3 cup vegetable or olive oil
3 tbs butter- melted

Preheat oven to 400, butter/oil a med/large baking pan.

Mix all dry ingredients together in a large bowl.

Whisk all wet ingredients together in a medium bowl.

Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and mix thoroughly.

Scrape mixture into a glass baking pan (mine is probably 7 x 10?) and press firmly into the pan. (the bars should be less than 1/2" thick)

Bake for 15-25 minutes depending on your oven. I bake it until it is med golden brown and the edges are starting to get deep golden brown.

Remove from oven, using a spatula score the bars in the size you prefer. Let the bars cool in the pan. Once cool use a spatula to loosen the edges around the pan, then use the spatula to carefully loosen them from the pan and break/cut into pieces.
